Two slices of pizza from your local pizzeria is about 450 calories — and that’s without any excess toppings! It would take you 83 minutes of walking or 43 minutes of running just to burn off those two slices. But there is a way to have your pizza and eat it too! By subbing out the most calorie-filled part — the crust — with healthier alternatives, you can enjoy delicious, guilt-free pizza.


Carrot

Even though carrots are low in sugar and carbs, they may not seem like the best way to enjoy pizza. But this healthy alternative is a delicious substitute. Carrots are filled with beta-carotene — the pigment that gives them their orange color — which converts to vitamin A in the body and helps promote eye health. Preheat the oven to 400°F and pulse the carrots in a food processor. Carrots contain a lot of water, so drain out the water and spread the carrots onto a baking sheet. Bake until crispy, add toppings, and bake again until the toppings are heated through.
