cranberry salsa

Cranberry sauce is a classic Thanksgiving side dish, but according to The Dr. Oz Show guest chef Danny Boome, the canned version isn't a very healthy option. Boome suggests turning your sauce into salsa and making this dish homemade and healthier without sacrificing the sweet cranberry flavor you love. Plus, his recipe only takes about five minutes to make — perfect for people who have multiple recipes on their plate (pun intended).

2 cups Fresh cranberries
2 tbsp Raw honey
1 Orange (peeled and chopped remove white pith)
1/2 cup Cilantro
1/2 cup Scallions (chopped)
1/2 Jalapeno (seeded and chopped)

Toss cranberries, honey, orange and jalapeño into a food processor. Process about 1 minute until cranberries are roughly chopped.

Add the cilantro and scallions. Process a little longer until well combined and have your desired consistency.

Serve over or on the side of your Thanksgiving turkey.

If you prefer a thicker, more classically gelatinous cranberry sauce: Add the salsa you just made and some orange juice into a pan and reduce. Let mixture chill and store it in the fridge, to bind it, for 24-48 hours.
