Journaling

Since I started my weight loss journey with Dr. Oz and his staff, one of the many things they have stressed is the need for journaling. Not only should you journal what you eat on a daily basis, but you should also keep track of every time you put something in your mouth! Do it for a couple of days, and you will think twice about eating something that is unhealthy. There is something about admitting it and actually seeing it in black and white that makes you put back that candy bar or resist the urge to stop at the nearest fast food joint to get some fries.

I NEVER leave home without my journal. If we decide at the last minute to stop for a snack somewhere or even to go out for dinner, I can immediately write down what I am about to eat. It solidifies my meal choice in my mind.

Another use for your journal is to write daily about what’s on your mind. Learning to eat healthy isn’t just about what food options to choose for the day or for the week, but it is a completely different mindset. You need a makeover in your mind. Write down how you’re feeling throughout the day, or even write down how you feel after you eat something. At the end of the week you can look back to see why you made certain choices. You will surprise yourself and see a pattern! I know I did.

Doing both of these types of journaling has been good for my soul, I encourage you to pick up a pen and start journaling.

Here’s to another great week of healthy choices!
