Don’t Let the Scale Ruin Your Day!

Every time I started a diet/weight loss program in the past, I would weigh myself every day. I let the scale dictate my day. If the scale didn’t show a weight loss, my day was ruined and this sometimes led to a day/night of overeating. I would think, “Why even try, this scale just isn’t going to move.” I would eventually stray off my program and start eating foods that just weren’t healthy. I would eat comfort foods and before I knew it, I was gaining weight instead of losing weight. I was putting my body through an unhealthy roller coaster ride!

Since I started my journey to wellness in February, I weigh myself once a week and take my waist measurement and send it off to Dr. Mike. Dr. Mike is an awesome coach and extremely supportive. I don’t live my life around the scale. There can be many reasons why there is no weight loss. You can be retaining water or you might need to do a little more exercise or change up your exercise routine. No weight loss doesn't mean failure.



Don’t misunderstand me, as I do not ignore the numbers on my scale; I just don’t base my success rate on the numbers. I don’t allow those numbers dictate my day. Instead, I have changed my lifestyle. I eat only whole grains, veggies, fruits and nuts. I never feel deprived. I am full of energy and loving life. I also love cooking so I do a lot of experimenting with spices and have come up with some interesting recipes which I have shared in previous blogs. 


Don’t let the scale ruin your day!

Monday and Wednesday: Grilled tilapia over brown rice

Tuesday and Friday: Turkey burgers on whole grain bun

Thursday and Saturday: Whole grain pasta with sautéed veggies

Sunday: Whole grain pizza with turkey pepperoni and low fat mozzarella cheese
