Dr. Oz: Why I'm Getting Involved With the Food Supply Chain Coalition

The food supply chain is broken, but we have a welding kit. Food banks nationwide are squeezed between short supplies and a 40% surge in demand from needy families, but every $1 spent to reconnect the frayed chain yields up to $72 in aid. Working with the All-In Challenge, three universities (University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Tennessee, and Arizona State University) have dedicated 27 MBA students to close the end-to-end gaps in the national farm-to-food bank supply chain. We will leverage insights and resources from some of America’s largest food producers and food banks to arm these whiz kids as they connect farmers and ranchers to packers and transporters, and ultimately to food banks, so America can utilize any idle capacity to feed our most vulnerable. The resulting playbook will provide expertise and leadership as we reconnect our tattered food supply chain. Offer your advice and follow our efforts on the Food Supply Chain Coalition's LinkedIn.
